Alexander EggermontProfessor Alexander Maximiliaan Marie Eggermont was a professor of oncological surgery at Erasmus University in Rotterdam (Netherlands). He headed the Department of Oncological Surgery at the Daniel den Hoed Cancer Centre in Rotterdam. His expertise lies in immunotherapy research and the treatment of melanomas and sarcomas, as well as fundamental research in tumour pathophysiology and immunology.

Alexander Eggermont was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Gustave Roussy by the Minister of Health in 2010, leading the institution until October 2019.

He was appointed Professor of Universities in 2003.

He served as president of the EORTC (European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer) from 2003 to 2006, and of the ECCO (European CanCer Organisation) from 2008 to 2010.

He has chaired the European Academy of Cancer Sciences since 2009, and the International Evaluation Committee for German Cancer Centres since 2008.

Alexander Eggermont has received numerous scientific awards, including:
