Professor Laurence Albiges
Professor Laurence Albiges is the Head of the Medical Oncology Department at Gustave Roussy. Her main area of clinical care and research focuses on the treatment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC).
Recognised as an expert in the field, she is involved in numerous research projects on this topic and has published over 350 peer-reviewed articles. Since 2023, she has been listed among the Highly Cited Researchers by Clarivate.
Institutionally, she served as Chair of the Genitourinary Oncology Committee at Gustave Roussy from 2015 to 2021. After serving as Deputy Head of the Medical Oncology Department for two years, including during the pandemic, she was appointed Head of the department in October 2021.
She is also an active member of the RCC guideline panels for the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the European Association of Urology (EAU) from 2016 to 2024, and coordinated the ESMO Genitourinary (non-prostate) Faculty from 2020 to 2024.
A member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), she has received several awards for her research contributions. She serves on the boards of the Unicancer Genito-Urinary Tumour Study Group (GETUG) and the Kidney Cancer Association (KCA).
Currently, she is the lead author of the European RCC guidelines panel of ESMO, on which she has served since 2018.
