Doctor Françoise Rimareix
A plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a specialist in senology, Dr Françoise Rimareix has been the Medical Director of Gustave Roussy since 1st September 2021.
After spending ten years at Curie Saint-Cloud, she joined Gustave Roussy in 2006, where she held the position of Head of the Breast Oncological Surgery Department for eleven years, while also overseeing the Ardennes Hospitalisation Department for fourteen years. She was also involved in the creation of the Plastic Surgery Department alongside Dr Kolb.
Appointed Head of the Operating Theatre Department in 2017, she developed ambulatory care, creating four dedicated operating rooms in 2018. In collaboration with the Breast Pathology Committee, the expertise of her department ensures that the majority of patients with breast cancer benefit from oncoplastic surgery or immediate reconstruction.
Her areas of expertise include breast cancer and the ambulatory management of oncology patients. She has also been responsible for the Inter-university Diploma in Oncological Breast Surgery. A member of the National Academy of Surgery, she is actively involved in several learned societies. She holds a Master's degree in Health Policy Management from Sciences Po Paris.
As Medical Director, she contributes to the development of healthcare services and organisational structures within the framework of Gustave Roussy’s 2021-2031 institutional strategic plan, in collaboration with the research department. Her responsibilities include supervising quality control and risk management to ensure the highest standards of care at the Institute. Highly engaged with the teams, she favours a collaborative approach, particularly with non-medical staff.
Dr Rimareix is also listed among the Highly Cited Researchers 2024, a prestigious distinction that reflects her influence and significant contributions to research in her field.
